The Minister for Defence, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, and the Minister for Defence Personnel, the Hon Darren Chester MP, announced that the Australian Air Force Cadets will work with JAR Aerospace in the delivery of a joint training initiative.

Minister for Defence, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP said the new partnership would help reinvigorate the Air Force cadets program.

“This new training initiative, which will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) based training will inspire cadets to learn and keep pace with technologies being adopted by the Royal Australian Air Force,” Minister Pyne said.

“As part of the program, the Australian Air Force Cadets have ordered over 3,000 micro-drones from JAR Aerospace – one of the largest ever (purchased) of drones in Australia,” Minister Pyne said.

“The training will also focus on project management and leadership, building these skills in our future aerospace and defence leaders,” Minister Chester said.

The initiative will be rolled out to Australian Air Force Cadets from 1 July 2019.
