QinetiQ Group plc, a military technology company, have purchased England-based sim training specialists Newman & Spurr Consultancy Limited (NSC).
The £14m deal will allow NSC to pursue larger contracts and take larger roles within them. Further, NSC can leverage existing functional support and business infrastructure that will be key to supporting future growth.
NSC will retain its management team with no impact on contractual obligations or change to the company’s culture and ethos. It will closely associate with QinetiQ’s Cyber, Information & Training (CIT) business while offering pan-QinetiQ capability.
“Training is a growing area both in the UK and internationally and working with NSC will enhance our capability in areas such as modelling and simulation, synthetic environments and operational analysis,” said James Willis, Managing Director of CIT.
“Likewise, I feel we have lots to add to support their business and help them continue their growth.”
NSC generated £5.9 million of revenue for the 12 months to July 31, 2019. NSC offers a range of training and simulation solutions, primarily in land and joint training areas.
“I am really excited about the possibilities that NSC creates for QinetiQ as a whole,” Willis added.
NSC augments QinetiQ’s capability in modelling and simulation, as well as synthetic environments and operational analysis.
The combined footprint of the two companies will provide further opportunity for growth, leveraging QinetiQ’s international footprint and experience in the Air domain, particularly through lnzpire’s operations.
“QinetiQ has been chosen by NSC because of the close alignment with their current activities and future business strategy,” said NSC CEO Jeremy Spurr said.
